I got one of these early in the summer. In its original incarnation, the phone had a lot of software and hardware issues. The software update that came out in early August was a spectacular improvement. It transformed the phone from an annoyance into something that is really a pleasure to use. T-Mobile took this phone off the market for a while over the summer, and I think the time was spent on tightening up quality issues. I got two new G2Xs in mid-August and both are great phones.

I just bought a brand new T-Mobile G2X smart phone from ABe's. The first day of using it, it was freezing up. Every time I charged it, within 15 minutes the phone would go dark and freeze and the only way to unlock it was to remove the battery. It freezes from time to time when I am on a phone call. I went out to the LG Forum and many G2X users have had this problem. What a piece of JUNK. I should have bought the Galaxy S 4G.
Don't buy anything from ABE's. They have been HORRIBLE to work with in getting me a refund.

I have had my G2x 14 months now and had no serious problems. I have removed the battery twice in that time to do a hard reset but that seems a very minimum amount of trouble to me. Screen resolution looks as good as the retina display on my iPod, it's more than fast enough on download/upload speed tests on T-Mobile's local 4G network, never a dropped call and call quality is excellent. I've downloaded many utility apps (no games) and use those as well as the browser/search features frequently. Also heavy usage with email and SMS texting.
